The Spy Who Loved Me was the first Bond film ever officially shown in communist Eastern Europe, 12 years after it was released in the West. Creative constraints may explain why designer and illustrator Berta Gabor preferred to use a stylized image to convey Bond and Anya’s partnership instead of depicting actors or action.
